I would like to talk to you about being a leader to your dog and what it entails. When talking about leadership, there’s only one way dogs understand it: Nothing In Life Is Free (NILF). What this means is that your dog needs YOU to survive. They need the food YOU bought for them. They need the toys YOU bought for them. They need a place to sleep that YOU provide for them. Do you see where I’m going with this? Nothing in life is free for us and therefore nothing in life should be free for your dog. Make them work for it. And work for a dog is EASY! If they want a treat, make them sit. If they want to be pet, don’t let them demand it by barking and/or pawing at you, but rather have them sit and ask politely. If they want fed, have them sit for it. These things are very subtle, but can make a profound difference in the way that your dog views and respects you. EASY PEASY! Gosh, I wish all I had to do in life was sit and get desserts, food, and attention!
